Why…

Posted in General on December 23, 2011 by davewynne

Well here we go, about to start another year and what ate we told? Oh yes! The train fares are going up again. Now tell me if this sounds stupid, but, if the government want to get people out of their cars and on to public transport, wouldn’t it make more sense to keep public transport affordable?! All the tome the fates keep going up, people will just keep going back to their cars!!!

Relocation, relocation, relocation…

Posted in General on February 9, 2011 by davewynne

Well that’s me moved. No more travelling to Victoria any more! My commuting is now to Euston! Euston Square to be exact.
I must admit that the journey is much less stressful. I think this is largely due to not having to do battle with the crowds on the concourse of Victoria Station. I always seemed to be going against the crowd!
I will be exploring the new area more and more as the weather gets warmer and let you all know what it’s like!

Here We Go Again…

Posted in General on October 6, 2010 by davewynne

Here we go again. Winter is fast approaching and the weather is on the turn.
We have had quite a bit of rain recently. Not unusual for England I hear you say. Why is it then, that if we are so used to having wet weather, does our transport infrastructure fall apart with the first downpour?
The other evening we had some rain. The whole of my home town came to a standstill. All the roads just jammed up for no apparent reason!!
Travelling to London we have had flooded tube stations and trains not running!
Come on England! After this many years we should be prepared for all this. After all, we pay in enough to use our cars and public transport. Where is all that money going?

Tube strike…

Well yesterday was fun!
The day of the tube strike and they used an interesting tactic to make themselves look better than the were.
The trick is to say that a particular line is running a restricted but reasonable service. This was true, but what they neglected to say was that although the trains were running none of the stations were open!
You weren’t told which stations were open in advance so you ended up on a long journey to somewhere you didn’t want to go to.
Not impressed!

Hot Stuff…

Posted in General on June 30, 2010 by davewynne

Why is it that railway companies always seem to have their trains set up so that the air conditioning only works during the winter and breaks down during the summer?

When this is combined with the fact that because the trains are (supposed to be) air conditioned, none of the windows open. The end result is travelling in something that resembles a greenhouse and is often extremely hot!

The Long Journey…

Last Wednesday was a long day!
I had to go to Poole in Dorset for the day and, due to unforeseen circumstance, managed to miss the train back to London.
The next train was only an hour later, but stopped at so many stations that it did not get in to London until five past one in the morning!!
By the time I got across London for my connection home, the trains had stopped running.
Just to add to this, there were no rooms available in any of the suitable hotels so I ended up spending the night on a sofa in a hotel lobby.
I would like to thank Premier Inn though as at least their staff were helpful and allowed me to use their couch.
I final got home at half six the following morning!
All in all a very long and tiring day.

Unwashed…

Posted in General on May 25, 2010 by davewynne

Why is it that when the weather turns hot and the tube even hotter, there always seems to be people who think it is a good idea to stop wearing deodorant?
I was walking through Westminster tube station yesterday behind a middle aged woman who smelled terrible.
A really strong smell of sweaty arm pit is really not pleasent!
Please just wash!!

Sunday drivers…

Who let the idiots out on the road today?
The complete idiot who alnost took the front of my daughters car today should be banned from driving. He completely ignored the give way line and drove straight out in fronte of her causing her to break so hard that the dog cage in the back fell over and the poor Springer ended up on his back looking terrified!
The nutter just drove off as if nothing had happened!!
